We are so thrilled to confirm that Profound Sound is BACK this year, as Folkestone Fringe collaborates with Hot Salvation Records and Phantom Limb to bring you Folkestone’s experimental Music & Sound Festival, featuring an array of local and international artists. This year’s instalment comes with a slight twist, with the festival weekend opening alongside the spring callings of April (22nd-23rd), and extending throughout the year with performances and workshops that are both intimate and bold, ready to keep you immersed in music, and connected with the community and communal joy that it instigates. Here’s a look at our April weekender of headline artists;
~ FRIDAY NIGHT ~
The Indonesia-based band, Senyawa explores experimental music through embodying the aural elements of the region’s traditional music. It includes the artists Rully Shabara and Wukir Suryadi, who delve into deft extended vocal techniques and modern-primitive instrumentation throughout their craft. Berlin-artist Frankie - Frankie (Franziska Aigner) works at the intersection of music, philosophy and performance, and her practice usually consists of a solo cello & vocal set combined with a hyper-emotional lyricism. Performing Friday 22 April 2022 at Creative Folkestone Quarterhouse < 8.30 >

San Antonio-based claire rousay explores the minutiae of everyday life through her sound, experimenting with the mixing of voicemails, haptics, environmental recordings, stopwatches, whispers and conversations, thus bringing about an emotional and immersive experience. —__–___ (More Eaze & Seth Graham) - More Eaze features the inspiring and ever-evolving composer and multi-instrumentalist mari maurice, together with Seth Graham - the experimental musician, composer, and co-owner of Orange Milk Records. more eaze’s compositions touch upon myriad genres which often explore themes of gender, identity, perception, and the mundane. Seth Graham focuses on compositions which highlight tropes across a broad range of musical genres using midi data, Max MSP and samples.
